Before and After Structural Integration Bodywork

SomatoEmotional Release

Structural Integration refers to work developed by Ida Rolf to reorgainze the fascial layers of the body. Several schools were formed to carry on the work of Dr. Rolf, and I was trained by Hellerwork International, founded by Joseph Heller.

Hellerwork Structural Integration is state-of-the-art therapy for the body-mind-spirit. The Hellerwork series consists of eleven sessions of deep tissue bodywork and movement education, designed to realign the body and release tension and stress. It works on the whole body, re-balancing and re-educating it to a more relaxed and youthful state.

Ideally, fascia is loose, moist tissue; under continual stress and lack of movement, it becomes rigid and loses its fluidity, causing stiffness, tension and often pain.

Each session has a theme that looks at the emotional body as well as the physical. Each session builds toward an unwinding of the whole body aiming to take that body back to its younger state of ease and movement.

Bodywork To Release Adhesions and Restore Alignment

Hellerwork Structural Integration is a process by which the whole person, body, mind, and spirit, is brought into more optimal alignment. Through the deep-tissue myofascial bodywork component of Hellerwork, our clients' bodies become more aligned with the forces of gravity, they experience more ease in their movements, increased flexibility, a return of lost range of motion, improved balance, more comfort in joints and a greater sense of stability and support.

Movement Re-Education

All these wonderful physical and structural results are supported, maintained, and enhanced by teaching our clients how to move more efficiently and with less stress to their bodies. Clients maintain a more youthful appearance, overcome the effects of a lifetime of soft tissue injuries and have a better chance of avoiding painful deterioration in the future.

Dialogue for Body-Mind Awareness

A realignment of the whole person and their body-mind cannot be complete without exploring attitudes and beliefs that may affect how a person holds themselves, how they present themselves to the world, and how they experience their personal space. During the Hellerwork series of sessions, themes relating to each session are discussed, offering an opportunity for our clients to reassess who they are and how they are in their lives.
